A Joyful Morning with Patchwork ELC

We were delighted to welcome the children from Patchwork ELC for a lively intergenerational session.
The morning began with an energetic game using pool noodles as our “fire horses” in honour of Chinese New Year. Smiles and laughter filled the room as everyone joined in the fun.

As the world watches the Winter Olympics draw to a close, our very own Torvill and Dean took to the ice!

Hugh and Kath had an incredible experience ice skating at the Waterfront Leisure Complex today. Well wrapped up against the cold, they were pushed around the ice in their wheelchairs by the fantastic, specially trained ice rink staff who we would love to thank for making it such a memorable experience.

Even Allan had a go on the ice — although it’s safe to say he’ll be hanging up his skates!

It was a lovely day all round, with Hugh’s nephew and his wife coming along to spectate and cheer from the sidelines.

In the afternoon, the celebrations continued as we marked a very special occasion – our wonderful manager Grace’s 50th birthday! ๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽ‚

Grace was surprised with a gorgeous bouquet of flowers from The Woodland Florist, along with thoughtful cards from both staff and residents, delicious chocolates, and a stunning arch-shaped vanilla cake, filled and topped with vanilla buttercream, made by Allan.

This afternoon we had great fun playing pool noodle hockey ๐Ÿ’

There were lots of laughs as we used the pool noodles to hit the ball towards the goal — which was a zimmer frame! Safe to say there was plenty of competitive spirit and dramatic moments throughout the game.

Keep an eye out for our special “match analysis” from our on-field commentary team, as they react to all the action and drama! ๐ŸŽค๐Ÿ‘

๐ŸŒŸ We’ve done it again! ๐ŸŒŸ

We are absolutely delighted (and incredibly proud) to share that Ardnahein Care Home has once again been named a Top 20 Rated Care Home in Scotland for 2026, having also achieved this honour in 2023 ๐Ÿ†

The Carehome.co.uk Awards 2026 celebrate excellence in care, recognising the Top 20 individual care homes across 12 UK regions. What makes this recognition so special and so meaningful to us is that it is based on outstanding reviews from those who matter most: our residents, service users, and their families and friends. Their voices truly mean everything.

This is an amazing achievement not just for Ardnahein, but for the wider Dunoon community, and we genuinely couldn’t have done it without the incredible support we receive every single day ๐Ÿ’™

Most importantly, I am hugely proud of every member of our team past and present alongside our wonderful residents and their families. You have all supported us immensely on our journey as we continue to provide a true home from home for loved ones in their later years.

Everyone has worked exceptionally hard, often through extremely challenging circumstances, to create what Ardnahein is today: a warm, loving, and truly family-orientated care home.

The hard work doesn’t stop here. We will continue to strive, grow, and excel especially as the only rural care home recognised on this prestigious list.

Thank you for this recognition it truly means the world to us all.
Have a great week everyone ๐Ÿ’ซ

With thanks,
Grace Middleton
